![]() Just look at the pictures and judge by yourself.įor those of you who don't have the time to read the topic on, these are the pics of the CATCAMS camshafts i received after a 2 months and a half lead time and 1450€ spent. There's not much he can say to save the CatCams reputation IMHO. Max, did you have those spacers with the revolvers you pulled? Im curious why those cams did nothing for the car.Īs for wear issues, im not surprised, the machine shop left burring, and didnt micro polish the lobes. but had superaggresive lift and duration.Īnd lastly, they are regrinds that came with little spacers for the valves, not sure why if the hydro lifters would take up the slack from the base circle diameter loss. Oh, and you could make a ton of boost free-reving the car in neutral, 10psi+, it was just ridiculous.Īfter that we chased ghosts for a year trying to get the car on its feet and at a baseline where we could eliminate what turned out to be a bad tune with inappropriate timing curves at peak torque.ĭont forget revolver made two versions, the v2 that turned out to be too mild and did nothing for anyone, and the V1s that everyone complained made the idle lumpy and caused misfires (duh!). My only experience was that when running a crap tune that was running at the limit of the broken fuel pump, the cams pushed the tune past the limits of the broken fuel pump. Revolver priced themselves out of the market and the early indications of gains on k04s were never backed up. They did show solid gains in the 1.8t world, so I would expect similar results here. I would be afraid to run these in my 2.7t their quality control is not up to par for such a vital engine component. Many expensive engines have been destroyed due to various faults with their cams. I wouldn't waste my money on CatCams camshafts if i were you.Ĭat Cams have had a several issues in the 1.8t world. max, what do you have to say to the below? I haven't heard any bad experiences with the 30v stuff, but aftermarket cams should always be inspected and clocked prior to installation. I would highly recommend them, and would recommend them over the older 1004050, which are a lot closer to 2.8L. They are burly up top, but dont sacrifice too much low/mid end. We just replaced a set of Revolvers and lost 2whp by moving back to the stock 2.7 cams except that idle is way smooth and overall the car runs far better.Ĭjernigan we've had great results with the new cat cams (1004052).
